Center of Excellence: Hackathon Days

Staying on the edge and up-to-date in a technological world can be the difference between leading the industry and being forgotten among companies that have evolved to offer better tools and opportunities to end users. 


Likewise, being a platform that helps to lead in the industries, such as ServiceNow, means not only helping organizations on their path to digital success, it also implies staying out of the best tools and innovations that accompany any company in meeting its organizational goals.


On this occasion ServiceNow, being typical in its updates to keep names of cities and following the alphabet, presents its most recent version SAN DIEGO, which allows greater empowerment to organizations through the delivery of digital workflows. 

With the idea of always staying at the forefront of innovation to offer the best tools, demonstrating our experts on the digital platform with flows and proposals for organizations, at Volteo Digital we carefully designed a Hackathon to keep our minds creative and in search of solutions. The most complex problems that we could imagine. 


On this occasion of Hackathon 2Q 2022, the guidelines to follow are based on: 


  • Using features of San Diego, the latest update to the ServiceNow platform. 
  • Market value and real world application. 
  • Scalability, ease of use and great user experience.


3 teams were formed globally, and once the scores to be considered were explained, the teams had a weekend to develop their solution and present it, let's get to work. 


It is worth noting in each Hackathon the capacity for response, innovation and creativity that each team has to manage in order to stand out in the face of the various solutions that have to be incredibly careful and against the clock for the short time given. Likewise, the teamwork carried out demonstrates a level of synergy, trust and commitment, demonstrating leadership that industries require in the area of innovation. 


Time is running out and it's time to show off your progress. For this occasion, 3 applications were developed, one for each team and the solutions they seek are as diverse as styles of industries, different workflows, the 3 main apps developed worked in this different areas: 


  • A new way of monitoring and securing reservations in hotel segments (MX Office Reservations). 
  • Intelligent tracking with emergency detection for ambulances (MX Ambulance App), and 
  • Different and innovative solutions to order taxis (India Team – Cabs) 


After an arduous project evaluation task and a technical tie for first place, the tiebreaker judges were used and the positions were as follows: 

 

  1. Cabs (Team India) 
  2. MX Ambulance App 
  3. MX Office Reservations 

 

The possibilities of growth and development for the first positions show us an important advance with the characteristics of San Diego, the use of the new Next Experience interface generates an intuitive and friendlier environment for the end user. The market study carried out for the different applications meant a significant impact and a clear manifesto of leadership and knowledge of the market in common situations. (Let's not forget Uber's recent partnership with ServiceNow that has a direct impact on the market and was taken as a reference for the Cabs application).
