On August 26th, we celebrate Women’s Equality Day in the United States. This day commemorates the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which granted women the right to vote. It is also a time to reflect on how far women have come over the years, and to consider what still needs to be done in order to achieve true gender equality.
One issue that still requires attention is the gender gap in the tech industry. Despite making great strides over the past few decades, women are still underrepresented in tech jobs. According to statistics, while women make up almost half of the workforce, they are severely underrepresented in software engineering (14%) and computer science-related professions (25%). In reality, only 2% more women have been hired for software engineering positions in the last 21 years. We should shift our focus from "glass ceilings" to the larger issue of women not being given opportunities to enter technical fields.

Closing the gender gap in the tech industry will require effort from both employers and employees. At Volteo Digital, we are committed to achieving true gender equality in our workplace by creating initiatives to strengthen the participation of women in technology and business.

Voices of transformation

Although the gender gap in the tech workplace is slowly moving in the right direction, we still have a way to go. The Women’s Equality Day is the perfect time to reflect on the need to continue working together to close the gender gap in the tech industry. By creating a more inclusive environment, we can help ensure that all employees feel supported and valued.
Let's pledge to do our part to make the tech industry a place where everyone can thrive.
